Essentials of Manufacturing Program

Essentials of Manufacturing Program: OSHA 10, CPT, and PMMI Mechanical 1 Training

Contact: Sam Hale

This program is ideal for individuals with limited-to-no prior knowledge of manufacturing who desire a career in this high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand industry.

The Certified Production Technician (CPT) Program allows individuals to demonstrate mastery of the foundational competencies of advanced manufacturing production at the entry to frontline-supervisor level through successful completion of certification assessments. The goal of the CPT Program is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of production technicians to bolster company productivity and competitiveness. The CPT Program consists of four individual certificate assessments: Safety, Quality, Manufacturing Processes and Production, and Maintenance Awareness. Completion of the CPT Program leads to fifteen college credits articulated to the Polk State College Associate in Science in Engineering Technology degree.

The second part of the CPT Program provides Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) Mechanical Components I Certification, which covers the principles and applications of the most common mechanical-driven components used in packaging machinery and systems. This program covers simple mechanical-power transmission devices such as shafts, belts, chains, cams, and gears, and provides emphasis on the application and troubleshooting of systems. An understanding of simple mechanical components provides the background necessary to explore the more complex systems of components used on all types of packaging equipment. This certification is aimed at entry-level technicians who may be involved in the assembly, testing, startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, or upgrade of basic packaging machinery modules.
