Polk State College to reopen Thursday following Idalia

Polk State College’s campuses, centers, and collegiate high schools will reopen on Thursday, August 31, following Hurricane Idalia. Students are urged to check Canvas about their specific classes and to communicate with their professors as needed.
The College understands that individuals may be recovering from the impacts of the storm. Faculty and staff will be exercising flexibility.
Additionally, it is important to note for those commuting to the College to exercise caution while driving. If a traffic signal is out, the intersection should be treated like a four-way stop. Students who need transportation can utilize Citrus Connection, which students ride for free with their Polk State IDs.
When on campus, students, faculty, staff, and visitors are asked to exercise caution as well, as landscaping crews will be working to remove debris starting at 6 a.m. Thursday.
The College is compiling a list of resources to assist with recovery. Students, faculty, and staff should continue to monitor polk.edu and Polk State’s social media.
