Polk State open on Friday following Tropical Storm Nicole

Posted on by Polk Newsroom

Polk State College will reopen on Friday including online courses, dual enrollment, and the collegiate high schools. The College sustained minimal damage as a result of the storm and personnel will be working throughout Thursday afternoon to clean up debris and prepare for individuals to return to campus.

The College recognizes that while its campuses and centers sustained minimal damage, other areas of the community may have more significant impacts including power outages and localized flooding. The College urges students, faculty, staff, and community members to practice caution while driving. Avoid driving through standing water and if a traffic signal is out, treat the intersection like a four-way stop.

The College also encourages students to communicate with their professors. Faculty and staff will be exercising flexibility as the community continues to recover from the storm.
